Sergio Chejfec was an Argentinian novelist and essayist born on September 28, 1956, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He published his first book, "Moral tales and other stories," in 1990, and went on to publish 15 more over the next 30 years. He was a professor of Spanish and Latin American literature at New York University and the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Chejfec's works often explore themes of memory, identity, and displacement, and have been translated into several languages, including English, French, Portuguese, and Italian. He passed away on February 12, 2021, in New York City, at the age of 64.
